Every guesthouse has a beginning. Ours began with one woman and a dream — and this room is named in her honour.
Mama Afrika is the room we give our name to when we tell people who we are. She founded St. Joseph's twenty-four years ago, starting small and building slowly, year by year, room by room, with the same quiet determination that built everything you see here today. The guesthouse you're staying in is entirely her doing — and this room carries her name because no other would feel right for it.
It is a warm, comfortable room with everything you need for a good night's rest — a well-dressed double bed, a private en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, television, and tea and coffee waiting for you when you arrive. But more than its fixtures, what makes this room special is what it represents: the starting point of something that has welcomed thousands of guests through its doors over more than two decades.
When you stay in Mama Afrika's room, you're sleeping at the heart of the story.
